The early New Year resolution didn?t last long then, nearly 2 weeks since last update, oops!
Norman and Alice arrived from Normandie on Saturday 16th, David and Pauline from the UK the day after. Had a really good time, lots of laughs, it?s a good job we don?t have close neighbours the amount of noise we were making in the evenings!
We all went for a day out in the Pyrenees, weather was miserable when we set out but it cleared quite a bit when we got into the mountains. Snow had fallen on the higher peaks since we were there a couple of weeks ago, hope that?s not a sign of a bad winter. We didn?t move all this way to end up with English type weather (I hope!).
Rokxy is growing quickly, getting more independent and into everything. We will be taking her to the vet tomorrow for her second jab and her microchip. Pity the microchip doesn?t allow me to control her remotely, she knows when she has done wrong and just runs away! That?s one problem with a big garden, when she?s run off with something she shouldn?t have she has plenty of places to hide, or she just keeps running until I?m knackered chasing her!
The promise of food is the only way to get JJ and Rokxy to sit still together!
Every year the French name any new dogs or cats they get with a different letter of the alphabet. This year it?s ?B?, which is why we named pup Rokxy! We did know about the ?B? thing but decided we didn?t want to follow the convention. However, I looked up the list of suggested names on the Net, amongst the names were ?Bloody? and ?Bugger?, so I had been inadvertently following the convention as I?m always calling Rokxy ?you bloody little bugger?!
The local farmers have started harvesting the maize in the fields around us. The machine they use to cut it is quite something (see photos below), it cuts the corn, separates the cobs, and then strips the corn off the cobs. The corn is then loaded into trailers and taken away to storage.
Still doing lots of work in the garden at the moment, want to get as much done as we can outside while the weather is fine. Also been tidying the garage, which is always in need of a tidy as I’m a messy bugger!
