Special Report From “Pissed Off Of The Pyrenees”

Hey, it?s a great life being a property owner in France, you sign all the papers and the Notaire congratulates you on being a property owner. Then, outside the Notaires, when you enquire about the keys, the previous owners casually mention they are not moving out until the 29th June. This was, naturally, a bit of a shock to say the least, even the Estate Agent was lost for words (no mean achievement, I?m sure you will agree!).
So we are still at Bruce and Polly?s place while the matter is being sorted by the Notaire and the Estate agent. This, in true French style, will take an estimated 10 days, meaning we can move in on the 30th June, no problem.
Meanwhile, we will sit and twiddle our thumbs or whatever bits need twiddling (and we’ve certainly twiddled some bits over the last few weeks), waiting, once again, for the magic moment when we get the keys to (what is now!) our French house.

The furniture move across the channel is going ahead as planned, too much of a pain in the bum to change the arrangements. We shall just store the stuff here for a week until we move in.

The picture of a grass hopper/cricket/alien life form on Jan?s shoulder was taken at the weekend, it?s amazing that someone who will run screaming from a money spider, will let a monster from another planet walk all over her (I was referring to the insect, not me!).

I?m hopeful that the next update will report better news on the house move, but you never know………..

Moved In (NOT!!!!!!!!!!)

Despite the promise that all the paperwork and payments would be ready for the 15th there was a delay somewhere in the postal system between UK and France, which meant that the Notaire did not have all he required for the final signing.
So, the new date for completion is Monday 19th June (no mention of which year but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it is 2006!).
I shall be flying back to the UK next Wednesday to assist Matt and Marc with the furniture run back to France. We are booked on the night ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre (LD Lines) on Friday, hope to arrive in Lascazeres late Saturday, unload on Sunday, with the boys driving back on Monday/Tuesday.
The weather here (near St Gaudens) has been great up till today, 33+ in the shade, 42+ in the sun! Now it’s raining with occasional thunderstorms, just as we were looking forward to a weekend of lazing in the garden again.
Will update Blog as soon as I can after we actually move in…..
